The ELU: Mental Health
I don't know about you but 2018 was a difficult year for me mental health-wise. With social healing in mind the ELU is back in 2019 to commune around a very common but often stigmatized theme: Mental Health. Let’s talk!
The ELU brings people together in real life who prioritize being intentional and carving out time and space to devote to knowing themselves and others better. This is a group that provides love, support and where no question or opinion is off-limits.

It almost feels like the idolization of the father figure has yet to be challenged by feminism. I dare you to google "Father daughter relationship" and just take a gander at the first five entries.
Men are an integral part of the world we live in and we wouldn't have patriarchy without them. They are our friends, neighbors, bosses and lovers. Join us for this special event where we finally open the ELU to those who identify as male!

Like so many decisions in a woman's life, the decision to have children is a double-edged sword. Women who decide not to have children can be seen as selfish or 'defying God's will.' After childbirth or adoption women in the US have no right to maternity leave. Not to mention the disproportionate amount of work women do in regards to child-rearing.

Feminism is a lens through which to view the world. Critical thinking is key. Now that the movement is officially 'cool' we've seen a shift from the political to a persuasive tactic to get us to consume more products. Some argue that feminism has been co-opted to be a qualifier signalling to the consumer that a product will empower them.

Friendships are one of the most worthwhile things in the world - something we all strive to have in our lives. But many women would agree that friendships with other women can sometimes be well...tricky. Let's dissect how and why cattiness, jealousy and other negatives come into play where female friendships are concerned.

The explosion of #metoo in October 2017 is changing everything. Or at least it feels like it has. There's a renewed hope in the air that sexual harassment and assault will become a thing of the past. That women - by speaking out - may finally be able to assert autonomy over their own bodies. Whether you participated online in #metoo or behind closed doors with close friends - we all have stories.

Join the ELU on Monday 11/20 to discuss everything beauty-related and how that aligns with (or juxtaposes) your feminist beliefs.
This month's topics will include sex, pornography and the ways they intersect with yourself and feminism. Women Uncorked's Rebecca Hassel will join us this time around (if you haven't checked out Rebecca's sex discussion group I cannot recommend it enough!).
